Robot delivery
“Watch the robot follow each arrow to the parcel.”
Your child plans arrow commands for a little robot, then watches it follow each step on the way to a parcel.
What your child does
- Guess first: Your child lays out the arrows they think will get the robot to the parcel.
- Test it: The robot follows the plan one step at a time, so your child can see exactly where it goes.
- Try again: If the robot goes the wrong way, your child finds the step to fix or tries a different path.
The problem-solving skill: planning steps and fixing a plan
Breaking a goal into clear steps, following them in order and spotting the one step that went wrong. These are first ideas in coding.
Try it at home
Give a grown-up simple movement instructions (“two steps forward, turn”) to reach a toy across a clear room. Ask your child to guess first, then try it together.
Robot delivery is one of the workshops in the Brielle’s World app for iPhone and iPad, which is coming soon to the App Store. You can visit it now on the clay island.
